    Community Engagement VISTA
    Phone: 517-483-4075
In April 2018, Rich began serving the City of Lansing’s Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement as an AmeriCorps Outreach Development VISTA for the 2018-2019 year. Rich's primary areas of focus are: Walking Wednesday neighborhood explorations, United Way neighborhood cleanups, Lansing's Neighborhoods in Bloom effort, and the Love Lansing Gala celebrating Lansing neighborhood leaders. He also loves to design print media for the department. Rich's interest in neighborhoods came from growing up in a transitional bundle of blocks on Detroit’s east side, near Hamtramck, during the 80s and 90s. During the 90s,as the last of the resources from local auto plants dwindled, Rich watched his neighborhood transform into something he no longer recognized. Houses burned. Cars were stolen. The sense of neighborhood security faded. He left home as a fourteen-year-old wanting to understand what had happened to his neighborhood and city.  Twenty years, a geography degree, and several experiences later, Rich is here in Lansing, ready to take what he's learned and apply it to solutions that will advance Lansing as a city, while also engaging traditionally overlooked groups and offering opportunities to engage local government.

    Phone: 517-483-4051
Born and raised in Lansing, graduate of J W Sexton High School and Davenport University, DeLisa began working for the City of Lansing in September 2014. Prior to coming to the City of Lansing, DeLisa was a Lead Community Organizer for N.E.O.N. (Nurturing Early On is Necessary), a parent led community organization (under the guidance of One Love Global) that focused on the engagement of families with children ages 0-8.  She is raising her three sons to value community involvement as well with the belief that sowing into one’s community is not a chore but an obligation no matter the age. DeLisa is excited to tackle her new role as the Administrative Assistant for NCE and is looking forward to working with the many community organizations in our great city!
