2018 Lansing Photo Contest
What is the City of Lansing 2018 Photo Contest?
The City of Lansing 2018 Photo Contest is a city-wide photo contest where participants can submit up to 5 photos that they have taken in Lansing and win prizes. This year’s theme is “Hidden Gems of Lansing” and is meant to celebrate all that is unique, undiscovered, and beautiful in each of the four wards in Lansing. Participants should think creatively about their entries! Photos should be of hidden gems in the city, not major landmarks.
Winning photos will be featured on the newly redesigned Lansing Neighborhoods website and kept on display at the Cedar Street Art Collective through the end of the year. Runner-up photos will be kept on display at the city community centers through the end of the year. Winners will also receive gift card prizes.
How will the Photo Contest work?
Residents interested in participating in the 2018 Photo Contest will have two weeks from July 20th to August 3rd to submit their entry photo here. Submissions must identify the location of the photo in Lansing. Photos will then be posted on the City of Lansing’s Facebook page and residents will have one week from August 6th to August 10th to vote for their favorite photos by “liking” the photo. The ten photos receiving the most “likes” will move on to the final voting round—a traveling art gallery in each of the city’s four community centers. The Photo Contest will spend one week at each of the four community centers and residents of Lansing will have four weeks to visit one of the centers to place their vote for top photo. The three photos receiving the most votes will receive gift card prizes in a ceremony with Mayor Andy Schor.
