Walnut Neighborhood Organization - Boundaries
  1. Dale Schrader

Meetings: Third Wednesday of month at the Neighborhood Empowerment Center, 600 W. Maple.

The purpose of the Walnut Neighborhood Organization is to enhance, promote and contribute to the community by supporting and initiating activities beneficial to Walnut Neighborhood, the City of Lansing, and society in general. We also aim to promote community cooperation in solving common problems which are detrimental to the health, safety, and general welfare of Walnut area residents and to facilitate better communications between Walnut residents and all local governments, their boards, and agencies.

Major Initiatives

We are currently building two "My Little Libraries" to be placed at strategic locations within the neighborhood.  In the past we worked with Northwest Initiative to bring a Mobile Farmer's Market to the Walnut Neighborhood and worked with the YMCA to bring the Healthy Living Mobile Kitchen to the Walnut Neighborhood.
