South Lansing Farmers Market gives individuals and families with limited resources nearby options to purchase affordable, healthy food.
Summer markets are Thursdays 3-7pm, May 2-October 24, 2019 at 800 W. Barnes, Lansing MI (St. Casimir Church).
We accept SNAP benefits (EBT, WIC, and Market Fresh Coupons) and offer Double Up Food Bucks so our EBT-eligible neighbors can stretch their food dollars. We offer cooking demonstrations and taste samples of healthy recipes that cost very little to prepare. The weekly Market is a family/bike/dog-friendly gathering place where neighbors build stronger relationships with each other and the farmer's who grow their food.
We have a variety of community theme days that celebrate our veterans, seniors, kids, LGBTQ neighbors, different neighborhood associations, and local nonprofits. We also host monthly pop up markets during the winter months.
South Lansing Farmers Market serves as a business incubator for home and community gardeners transitioning from personal food production to market vending. This supports a local neighborhood-based food economy. Also, several of our vendors donate their leftover produce to our onsite food pantry and community kitchen.
